An Orange Day in Kaunas with Michael A. Cotter
The regional stage of the 60th National Physics Olympiad took place all across Lithuania.
This year the so-called Orange Team arrived in Kaunas with a special guest Michael A. Cotter in order to entertain the students and their teachers at the Physics Olympiad which took place in the catholic secondary school of Juozas Urbšys.
The members of the Association of Lithuanian Science Olympiads (LGMOA) annually help to organize the regional stage of the Olympiad in one of the towns of Lithuania. During this event the Orange Team spent time with participants who had already completed their tasks and provided them with tea and cookies as well as team-building games. Children were even offered an opportunity to fill in the heads of well-known physicists Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton in a huge poster. Students could also receive some advice on how to solve some of the tasks as well as general information about studying in Vilnius, Kaunas or even abroad and the activity of the Orange Team during the year.
Meanwhile Michael A. Cotter had a meeting with the school administration, teachers and the senior specialist of the department of education of Kaunas Edvardas Starkus. During the meeting Mr. Cotter introduced the European Union Science Olympiad, its concept and idea and encouraged young talented children to take up the challenging life of a researcher.
The Orange Team will be responsible for EUSO 2012 students’ leisure activities and will make sure everybody is enjoying themselves.
